Avnera’s second-generation ASoCs (AudioMagic 2G) are the first in the world to offer a multi-point to multi-point wireless whole-home HD audio solution by augmenting the AvneraAudio P2M technology with several key new technology breakthroughs. Avnera’s second generation technology, AvneraAudio M2M, incorporates six innovations that dramatically improve the performance of its real-time streaming transmission system designed specifically for music and audio applications.

Multi-point to Multi-point Audio- AvneraAudio M2M technology is the first wireless audio solution to support up to 5 streams of stereo audio or 10 streams of mono audio. The system also supports up to 9 receiver nodes that can play any of these streams and switch between them at the touch of a button. A single physical device built upon AvneraAudio M2M-enabled solutions can integrate both send and receive capability.

Simultaneous Support for Varying Qualities of Audio Sources- AvneraAudio M2M technology is first technology that can simultaneously transmit and receive multiple streams at various audio quality rates, up to HD Audio (24 bit, 192 KHz). For example CD-quality audio generated by an iPhone dock or CD player can simultaneously be streamed alongside HD-quality audio from a Blu-Ray DVD.

Ultra-low Fixed Latency- AvneraAudio M2M technology is the industry’s first digital wireless system in the 2.4 GHz band with a sub-10 millisecond (10ms) fixed latency. This feature is critical for home theater surround sound applications to ensure that the audio played from each speaker is always precisely synchronized with video.

Inter-node Synchronization- AvneraAudio M2M technology provides inter-node jitter of less than 1 microsecond (1µs). This feature is critical for multi-channel applications such as surround sound, in which each speaker receives a slightly different audio channel required to achieve the three-dimensional hearing effect. Perfect synchronization is needed between the various channels in order to provide synchronized audio without artifacts. Achieving inter-node synchronization in packet-based wireless systems such as WiFi is virtually impossible, making AvneraAudio M2M platforms the only viable solutions for wireless surround sound on the market.

No Interference with Wi-Fi- AvneraAudio M2M products are the first wireless audio solutions designed specifically to be co-located with 802.11 (WiFi) networks without interference. While both AvneraAudio M2M and Wi-Fi networks operate within the 2.4GHz ISM band, Avnera has developed advanced intellectual property that allows wireless audio to not only be co-located with a WiFi network, but also to show no practical impact to the performance or quality of either system.

Works Harmoniously with Devices Operating in the 2.4GHz Band- Avnera recognizes that most modern homes are equipped with many technologies that operate in the 2.4 GHz band, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cordless phones. AvneraAudio M2M technology was specifically designed to operate harmoniously with all other devices in the 2.4 GHz band. The solution employs unique technology that detects other 2.4 GHz devices and automatically and seamlessly changes channels to avoid interference. In addition, AvneraAudio M2M platforms include intellectual property to ensure that co-location with high-power devices such as microwave ovens will cause no impact on the system’s performance or audio quality.
